On Saturday 7th March 2020 two teams from ACS took part in the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Competition in Willesden Magistrates‘ Court. Students were competing against schools in Northwest London taking on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates and court staff.
They prepared the prosecution and defence of a specially written criminal case, performed in a live format. Their performances were judged by Magistrates and other legal professionals.
It was an exciting challenge that raised students’ awareness of careers within the legal profession and give them a lot of confidence to perform in public.
We will hand over their certificates in the Awards assembly and hopefully Tim Harris, who organised the event and offered his support will be available too.
The outstanding performers for ACS :
Denakkiyaa Thavakumar 8X – Prosecution Witness – Team 1
Cansu Toyam 9R – Prosecution Lawyer – Team 2
Special mention for organizing:
Nikita Vaja 9P
Mazneen Rahuman 9P
And for outstanding preparation:
Ishaque Syed 9S
Rico Medina 8T
The students really enjoyed the event and are asking if there are other opportunities.
