Last term, Alperton Community School welcomed back three very distinguished former pupils: Adefemi Akinsanya who left Alperton in 2012 and Atul Maru and Riaz Ahmad who attended Alperton in the 1980s.
Adefemi is a journalist working for Arise news, Atul is a UK Border Force Officer at Heathrow Airport and has an MBE and Riaz is the Head of Quantitative Finance at the Fitch Group and holds a Lectureship in the departments of Mathematics and Computer Science at UCL.
On their arrival at Ealing Road they were met two of our student, Selina and Aniksha, along with Mr Rayleigh who gave them a full tour of our new building. The students asked them many questions about their current roles and what they could remember about attending the school.
After lunch, they all had some photos taken with in front of the school and then walked across to Stanley Avenue. Two Year 12 students, Ilayda and Schanas, met the guests and gave them a full tour of the upper site school where they met many staff both old and new.
Afterwards, they each gave a careers talk to 20 sixth formers in the Stanley Avenue library. Each talk was very personal and inspirational and it was really interesting for the students to hear such kind and passionate words from people who had attended ACS years ago.
It was yet another wonderful day welcoming back such amazing former students who were extremely complimentary about our school. Atul wrote “I would like to thank you and the pupils for a wonderful day and a thoughtful gift. The lower school was much better than I expected, very airy and bright and an absolute transformation. The upper school brought back fond memories. Overall, I was impressed with the students who were engaging and inquisitive. Well done in winning your Pearson National silver award. The Headteacher, senior leaders and staff should deservedly be proud of this achievement”.
