On Thursday, 17th October, Alperton Community School welcomed SEGRO, a leading real estate investment company, for an engaging two-hour workshop with 30 Year 10 students. SEGRO, known for developing and managing industrial and logistics properties across Europe, designed the session to introduce students to the world of business, logistics, and property development, while also encouraging them to think critically about their future career paths.

The session started with an introduction to SEGRO, where representatives shared insights into the company’s operations, explaining their role in facilitating the movement of goods across the UK and Europe. This part of the session helped students understand how logistics play a crucial role in everyday life, from online shopping deliveries to large scale industrial operations.

Following the introduction, the workshop moved into more interactive segments, focusing on career pathways, real world case studies and group activities.

Throughout the workshop, SEGRO emphasised the importance of transferable skills such as collaboration, effective communication, and critical thinking. The group activities encouraged students to work together, present their ideas confidently, and consider the impact of their decisions on different stakeholders, from businesses to local residents.

The students found the workshop both informative and inspiring. Many appreciated the opportunity to interact with professionals from the business world and learn about industries they hadn’t previously considered.

This was a valuable experience for the students. By providing insight into the logistics and property development sectors, SEGRO helped broaden their horizons and encouraged the students to think about their future careers in a very structured way.
