During the last week of term, the science department had the privilege of delivering Character Day to the year 11 students.
The main aim of Character Day was to give students the opportunity to improve their communication skills and learn how to express science-related ideas in a clear and confident manner. Led by Mr Ravi and supported by the science team, the plan for the day stemmed from KS3 Debate Club.
Students started the day by getting to terms with how a debate works and its rules, and then used the skills learned to engage in high-quality, competitive debates, resulting from excellent student teamwork and research.
The competition didn’t end there, as the top 4 form groups were put forward for an inter-form debate to wrap up the day. It was great to see so much enthusiasm and passion from the speakers, as well as the support received from a very receptive audience, which made the event truly memorable.
