Last week our students were involved in two engaging eco activities. The sixth formers participated in a SmartPhone repair event organised by Brent West London Waste and the Restart Project. The students were taught skills in repairing and replacing parts in a phone with the objective of valuing their mobile phone for longer and minimising digital waste. On Saturday 2nd April 2022, 41 students took part in their Silver and Bronze practice expedition in the Ashridge area. The students met staff at the Ivinghoe Carpark and from there they set off in groups completing an 8 hour walk where they only had a map and compass to guide them. All groups successfully made it to camp through the sunshine, snow and wind that day… yes, in one day. (more…)
Following on from the success of the inaugural business breakfast last year, Alperton Community School invited more local employers to have âbreakfastâ at our Ealing Road school in order to network, discuss potential career opportunities for our students and to continue to build long term relationships with local employers.
The month of March has been an exceptionally busy one for fundraising at ACS. The team was able to organise, prepare and execute an excellent and highly successful charity collection for Comic Reliefâs Red Nose Day. Through advertising during form time, daily briefings and posters around the whole school, our Whole community of teachers and students came together to show astounding support for this amazing cause. We managed to raise ÂŁ429.95 towards helping the poorest, most disadvantaged people in the UK and as well as some of the world’s poorest communities. (more…)
The ACS Eco Leaders students have joined the Eco Committee and they are keen to relaunch the Eco School programme interrupted during the Covid pandemic. The Eco Schools is the largest educational programme is the world, engaging millions of pupils across 70 countries, empowering children to drive change and raise environmental awareness. (more…)
On Wednesday 23 March fourteen students attended the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performance of Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 and Walton’s Symphony No.1 conducted by Vasily Petrenko at the Southbank Centre Royal Festival Hall. (more…)
On Friday 18th March our creative A Level art students took part in an exciting Art Paint Off event at the Alperton Art Studios by the canal. Everyone really enjoyed the event, including the many visitors from the public, local MP from Brent and NHS Mental Health representatives. The A Level students were joined by our younger art, drama and music students who took part in what proved to be an inspiring afternoon full of entertaining painting, singing and spoken word. Some of the outcomes will be auctioned off to benefit the Red Nose Day Charity.

Last week, the Year 13 Politics students and the Year 12 Health and Social Care students visited the House of Parliament. The students participated in a workshop on law making which they found very useful and were able to watch a debate from the public gallery. (more…)
