A small group of ACS students in years 8 and 9 were selected to participate in the Green Plan It competition, hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The project brief was to research, plan and build a model of a garden that students would like to see in their school or local community.
Over 10 weeks, students worked closely with a volunteer horticultural mentor learning about the types of plants we can grow in the UK climate. The mentor also spoke to the students about the types of plants they can include in the garden in order to met the suggestions identified in the survey conducted by the group.
On Tuesday 10th December, the students went to Capel Manor to present their final piece and did a fantastic job! Although they received no prizes, feedback from the assessors showed that the ACS team made it into the top three! The students were commended for their excellent research and presentation, and for their direct and honest answers!
