On Tuesday 11 February a group of our Year 10 and Year 12 physics students attended a science club as part of our Enrichment Research Programme, in collaboration with the University College London. They were introduced to what a PhD degree (the highest educational qualification that can be obtained) involves and learned more about the topics our guests are currently researching at UCL.

The programme involves choosing a PhD level science project that our Year 10 and Year 12 will undertake over the coming months by attending the club on a weekly basis. The Year 10 students will focus on Generative Quantum Eigensolver (GQE) for predicting ground states, while our Year 12 students will focus on Quantum Entanglement to explore how to ‘quantum teleport’.

After the completion of the project in the summer term, our pupils will be invited to present their research at a conference with other participant schools at the main UCL campus in London.
