Despite joining Alperton Community School only in Year 9, I was quickly welcomed by the friendly faces across the school. Simple things like this make the school into the community that it is. The atmosphere is perfect for learning and personal development. Since moving to this school I have been able to mature in character and grow my knowledge beyond what I thought was possible.
As part of the Student Leadership Team, I want to give back to the community that gave so much to me. I wish to further enhance the learning environment and student experience.
I pride myself on being an affable and good-natured student who will focus on the School Environment and Sustainability.

Over the many years of education at Alperton Community School, I have been able to develop and demonstrate exceptional leadership and teamwork skills across the school.
I have seen Alperton Community School grow and gain global recognition, yet not once has the school forgotten about its roots, continuing to be the welcoming haven and community it has always been.
I am currently part of the Duke of Edinburgh leadership team where I manage projects involving students from Year 7 – 11. As part of the Student Leadership team, I will be leading projects that focus on the academic development of the curriculum and help students develop greater confidence in their learning.
As an easily approachable and understanding individual, I am open to receiving student feedback so that these projects are tailored to the needs of the students, across different key stages and subjects.

I have been a student here at Alperton Community School since year 7 and I could not be more grateful for the support I have received. Being a student here has taught me so much about the amazingly diverse community we live in, and enabled me to make friends from many different backgrounds.
I believe that Alperton really gives us an opportunity to excel and succeed, by providing us with encouragement and a vast array of opportunities, such as the Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge, the EPQ and leadership opportunities.
As Head Girl I am interested in developing student engagement in these opportunities across the school community. I aim to begin this using student feedback to ensure this project is tailored to the interests of the students. As an approachable and friendly individual I look forward to supporting students across the school and sharing my own experiences.

Becoming a student at Alperton Community School has enabled me to expand my academic knowledge whilst also developing as an individual within the incredibly diverse and supportive community of students from across the world.
As Deputy Head Girl I am excited to be leading on the area of sustainability, which is extremely important for all of us and our planet. No matter how independent and unique we all are, our planet unites us and we have a responsibility to give back and maintain a clean, positive and welcoming environment.
I look forward to raising awareness about the importance of being sustainable, in school and at home, so that our space is better for everyone.
DEPUTY HEAD GIRL – SHAMINY PASKARALINGAM
Studying: Biology, Chemistry, Maths
I have been studying at Alperton Community School for nearly 6 years and the numerous opportunities made available by the school have helped me and other students grow academically and individually and helped pave our way into young adulthood.
I and many of my peers have gained confidence in becoming great leaders, thanks to the experiences and activities we have been taking part in at this school. This is one of the many reasons I feel honoured to be able to give back to the school and its community by being in the student leadership team.
The area of leadership that I will be working on is ‘student wellbeing and attitudes’ . My focus will be on the personal development of the students. In this role, I aim to organise opportunities for students to improve their confidence and develop a strong social support network with their peers.
ASSISTANT DEPUTY HEAD GIRL – SONDOS AL-JUNDI

Alperton Community School has provided me with an exceptional experience by creating a unique community made up of people from all over the world, each with their own individual interests, beliefs, and skills.
The teachers also form an essential part of this community, as they are extremely supportive and inspiring and they encourage us to perform to the best of our abilities and go beyond our comfort zones in every aspect. Their hard work has been recognized on many occasions; our school was nominated for the TES Secondary School of the Year Award and in 2018 we won the Varkey Foundation ‘World’s Best Teacher’ Award. These achievements make us feel proud and encourage us to continue to support our community in the future.
Being a part of the Leadership Team is an amazing opportunity for me to develop new skills and gain experience by working with senior leaders of the school to develop greater opportunities for student engagement in school and wider extracurricular activities to create a community ethos.
