We are delighted to share some of the presentations our Year 7 and Year 9 students prepared for the Celebrate Speaking Festival 2025. They have chosen either one of the languages they are learning at Alperton Community School or the language they speak in their communities. Speaking a Modern Foreign Language confidently and coherently is an important part of the curriculum but also a significant part of linguistic and cultural development for all learners of languages.

Year 7 Gujarati: My presentation is about myself, which school I go to and the year I am in, and also about some of the things I enjoy, such as the subjects and foods that I like.

Year 9 Turkish: My Presentation was about the weather, culture, the traditional drink, and the spices from where I was born and raised.

Year 9 Spanish: My presentation included a dialogue practised in a lesson about careers and future plans

Year 9 Tamil: I am delighted to celebrate my first language, Tamil. Tamil is one of the oldest languages so as a way of celebrating such culture I have decided to present some Tamil devotional hymns. This is called a Thevaram. We often sing these hymns to praise the god Shivan but also many other divine beings.
